Make the Sustainable Choice with a Grippy Pig Mat
Facebook

With environmental consciousness on the rise, we thought it important to address the sustainability of our products. A critical aspect of iQSafety is in protecting the environment from industrial activities and everything that we supply is designed to meet our high standards. In this article, we’ve taken a look at the myth that, in this instance, a reusable product is more sustainable than a product that is disposable.

We wanted to investigate this because our Grippy Mats are designed to replace the standard launderable matting that many businesses rent. Our mats are absorbent, fast drying and, most importantly, disposable. After three months, these mats are meant to be removed and another re-laid – rather than washed and reused.

As Grippy Pig matting is designed to create as little impact on the environment as possible, they must also be more eco-friendly than the reusable mats they are replacing! In order to prove this, the makers of the Grippy Mat partnered with the experts at the Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS) in New York State. They performed a life cycle assessment (LCA) to measure the environmental impact of the matting – from manufacturing and assembly, through to packaging and transportation, and finally the use and the end of life disposal.

The results blew us away!

  • Grippy Mat has a 92% lower environmental impact than the laundered alternatives.
  • You would need to replace your grippy mat 47 times per year to have the same impact as the rental mats –though you only need to replace your mat four times a year.
  • For rental mats that are owned by the company and not laundered, Grippy Mats still offer at least a 20% lower environmental impact.

We know that our Grippy Mat is 100% safer than rental rugs and now we know that they are 92% better for the environment as well! Make the eco-friendly choice and use Grippy Pig instead of launderable mats today!
